here is the lowdown:
Art Basel Miami Beach, a cultural and social highlight for the Americas, is considered the most important art show throughout the United States. As the sister event of Switzerland’s Art Basel, it has served as the most prestigious art show worldwide for the past forty years. In that spirit, for the duration of Art Basel, More than Art Group & Kazilla Productions will be hosting the art collaborative Multiversal 2011 – a unique series of exhibitions showcasing the works of many talented emerging and established artists from all around the world.
Multiversal is the brainchild of rising star Cassie “Kazilla” Williams and was founded in 2009 during Art Basel. In this first year, Multiversal 2009 drew in more than 4,000 visitors; and then in 2010, Multiversal became a fan favorite attracting more than 7,000 people into the heart of Miami’s Wynwood Art District. This year we are expecting twice as many people to attend our Multiversal 2011 show. The Multiversal experience features various emerging and established artists from all around the world — including designers, film-makers, body painters, artistic performers, bands, contemporary artists and many more.

an oldy but goody!
So about a week ago a friend of mine posted a track from the Busta Rhyme 1998 release E.L.E. When i gave it a quick listen it reminded me of how good a lot of the hip hop from the early to mid 90s sounded.. i quickly started digging up a lot of my music frm then to indulge in some audio goodness.
It also reminded me of how good Busta's 2002 release titled "It aint safe no More: was and how it was totally slept on. (album only went gold). With that in mind i decided to give it another listen and guess what..... it still sounds great!
If you've never heard it I suggest you go give it a listen!

Happy Movember!
Movember is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches/facial hair during the month of November. The event was conceived in 1999 by a group of Australian men from Adelaide. It is also known as "Novembeard".
Since 2004, the Movember Foundation charity has run Movember events to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression, in Australia and New Zealand. In 2007, events were launched in Ireland, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Spain, the United Kingdom, Israel, South Africa, Taiwan and the United States.
The rules of conduct given on the November site are:-
1. Once registered at movember.com each mo bro must begin the 1st of Movember with a clean shaven face.
2. For the entire month of Movember each mo bro must grow and groom a moustache.
3. There is to be no joining of the mo to your side burns. (That’s considered a beard.)
4. There is to be no joining of the handlebars to your chin. (That’s considered a goatee.)
5. Each mo bro must conduct himself like a true country gentleman.

The Moustache Ride (Movember)
i so wish i could participate in this one!
Saturday, November 12th
10am
Government Center
150 NW 1st Street
Miami, FL 33128
"Join Emerge Miami and CG Rotaract Miami for 'The Moustache Ride'. The ride will end at Margaret Pace Park for a picnic style after party, the Ms. Cheezious food truck will be on location to supply inexpensive tasty treats!
Route
November is Men's Cancer Awareness month and we want to do our part in style by organizing a "moustache mandatory" ride around downtown Miami. Riders are asked to don their best facial hair designs and donate some pocket change to Movember, an international organization funding research for a cure for men's cancer. Movember challenges all men to grow out their moustace's during the month of November, in the spirit of masculinity, brotherhood, and a global effort to raise attention to cancer issues. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and their men’s health partners: the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels ensure that Movember funds support a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
Men's natural moustaches are mandatory (but if you can't grow a moustache you are still welcome to come ride!)- any shape you love. Women's moustaches are recommended (and they can be fake, if they have to!).
Donations will go to Movember (suggested donation of $10.00) With an after party at Margaret Pace Park with fun, food, music , and moustachery."

Florida credit card company giving AK47s as a spending bonus for merchants
I ever tell you how awesome living in florida is? I mean our credit card company's give out AK47s... whats better then that! see below for details:
Do you happen to need an AK-47, as well as a company to process your credit card transactions?
If so, that would make today your lucky day, strangely enough.
MerchantService.com -- a Sarasota-based company that provides the equipment and processing for credit-card transactions in businesses -- announced its "Free AK-47 Giveaway" yesterday, offering an AK-47 worth up to $750 for new accounts based on how much credit-card processing volume businesses put through the company.
The company doesn't exactly have a cache of AKs sitting in its stock room -- it gives you a voucher to redeem instead -- and while you don't have to get an AK-47, they'd prefer you did.
"Keep in mind we are not simply handing out AK-47 assault rifles to anyone who opens an account with us," the company says. "Instead, you will receive a voucher that can be used towards the purchase of a firearm at any reputable gun shop where you must go through the proper background checks and waiting period that the law requires. If you prefer, the voucher can also be redeemed for cash."
Under the banner on its website that says "God, Guns & Guts" as part of the company's "No Victims" campaign, the company is promoting its services to protect against robberies and such, and apparently assault rifles fit the bill:
One of the most important steps toward ensuring you and your businesses well being is deciding to not be a victim.
According to a survey conducted by Professors James D. Wright and Peter H. Rossi, 56% of the felons surveyed agreed that "A criminal is not going to mess around with a victim he knows is armed with a gun;"
With the all of violence and crime in the US there are many things merchants can do in order to protect themselves in the future.
The website also uses a song that claims "I got rights" -- not the Hank Williams Jr. "I've Got Rights" -- and includes the lyrics "the Good Book says, I got rights."
For the $750 AK, you're going to need to open an account for 15 or more stores and do more than $1 million in volume.
If you do less, the company still offers smaller payouts toward the purchase of your new assault rifle, down to $50 for one store and $100,000 in volume.

SKETCHY MIAMI
So i was first introduced to sketchymiami.com by a fellow artist and friend that submited 3 sketches to the site. Upon learning about the goal of the site i immediately fell in love with their goal and decided to submit some pieces myself.
this is quite simply the goal of the site:
to create a portrait of every person in Miami. Here’s how it works:
1) Miami residents submit photographs of themselves, along with their names (at least — they can choose to share more information, e.g., birth date, neighborhood, favorite food, et cetera).
2) Local artists — i.e., all locals who consider themselves artists — create portraits based on the submitted photographs. (We call the portraits “Sketchys”.) Artists can work in any medium they choose and do as many Sketchys as they choose. All participating artists have a page on sketchymiami.com where their Sketchys are displayed alongside any personal info they choose to provide (bio, personal website, etc.).
3) As they are completed, the Sketchys appear on the homepage with a link to their photographs and to the artist’s personal page. In this way, each post is as much about the artist as the subject of the Sketchy itself.
Why do this?
The relationship between portrait subject and portraitist is one of the strongest in the history of art. (Think of the bond between Mona Lisa and Leonardo.) Sketchy Miami seeks to facilitate this relationship between thousands of local artists and residents. We believe the intimate nature of the exchange — giving one’s image, one’s face, to an artist to depict — will forge a bond of trust as no other art form could. In time, Sketchy Miami will become a definitive and inspiring testament to Miami’s diversity, ethnic, creative, physiognomic, and otherwise.
No Self-Portrait Policy
Self-portraits are awesome, but they don’t work for Sketchy Miami because the essence of this project is exchange. We want Miami artists and other locals to come together through portraiture, and self-portraits, by definition, do not involve interaction.
below you will find my submissions----

the press release is below:
MIAMI'S HIDDEN ARTISTIC TALENT SHINES ON PURPLE SUNDAYS
...Purple Sunday is a creative arts exchange festival held to showcase Miami's hot, upcoming
artistic talent, to be held in the beautiful Redlands Koi Gardens in Homestead, Florida on
March 13th, 2011. “Purple Sunday is about providing opportunity and showing people what the
real Miami has to offer,” says organizer and founder Alicia Hugh. “People can come see great
art work, unique lifestyle goods, and live music, but more importantly, they can meet the
creators, find out what inspires them, and allow themselves to become a part of the story,”
revels Ms. Hugh.
Purple Sunday artists and designers have been featured in print publications such as the New
Times and Miami Herald, as well as online publications such as www.thrillist.com, and have
been present at local art events like The Wynnwood Market. “We want Purple Sunday to
become a name synonymous with great local art and design, where artists and vendors,
whether advancing or well-noted, can come to exchange creative ideas, network, and
showcase their work,” adds co-founder Rachel Hugh.
Purple Sunday was birthed in April 2009, when sisters Alicia and Rachel Hugh, with a handful
of friends, realized their creative work had no platform or outlet to show the public. The first
event took place in a neighbourhood backyard, with only a handful of vendors and
approximately 80 attending. The first event generated so much attention and demand that Ms.
Hugh organized the second just months after, in July 2009, and changed the venue to the
Redland Koi Gardens to accommodate more guests. Ten vendors were booked and 250
people attended. This year they are approximating to have 20 vendors and at least 400
people attend.
For further information and vendor details, please contact Alicia Hugh at
info@purplesundayfestival.com , or check out our website at www.purplesundayfestival.com
