new series of sketches im doing.. Expression series

So I've decided to do a series of sketches in ballpoint pent and colored pencil. I call it the expression series. It's theme is the idea of words and sound as used to express ones self and the power/energy that these spoken intonations create. above is an example of one of the sketches titled, "Joyful Noise". My Gallo Mural is on the "Good Wall" in Little Havana, Miami

This past Sunday i completed my addition to the locally known "Good Wall" in Little Havana, Miami. The Good Wall Project is a mural project on the wall alongside the Goodwill Superstore of Calle Ocho in Downtown Miami's Little Havana. The individual squares of the mural are being painted with signature artwork by local artists and collectively make up an amazing mural, which spans the side of the building and wraps around the other end. Some well-known Miami-based artists are involved - Monique Lassooij, Luis Berros, Derek Wilson, Vince 'Bad Panda' Herrera, Diana Contreras, Registered Artist, and more. Above is my piece that I call "Gallo". Its located at 982 SW 8th Street Miami, FL 33130. Pass through & enjoy the work of some of miami's best artists!! ND

guess who got a Miami Newtimes "Mastermind 2013 Honorable Mention"

SEE A COPY OF THE ARTICLE TAKEN FROM THEIR BLOG BELOW:

Miami New Times' Mastermind Awards honors the city's most inspiring creatives. This year, we received more than 100 submissions, which our staff narrowed to an elite group of 30. We'll be profiling those honorable mentions, and eventually the finalists, in the weeks to come. This year's three Mastermind Award winners will be announced February 28 at Artopia, our annual soiree celebrating Miami culture. For tickets and more information, visit the website.

A native Floridian, artist Nathan Delinois knew he wanted to be an artist at a young age. Delinois has been exhibited countless times, won a slew of awards, and had his artwork selected for the American & Russian Art Exchange.

He's also been involved with the Broward Art Guild, Purple Sunday Artgroup, and Bakehouse, and featured in DUO Magazine, Delve Magazine, WeMerge, Making Waves, and more.

Incorporating many influences, Delinois says, "I have so many it's hard to just give a few; I am definitely influenced by my Haitian background and the use of color in a lot of Haitian traditional works of art. At the same time I am also influenced by a lot of the graffiti of Marc Ecko, Tat's cru, and the Inkheads. There is also the design quality of the Art Nouveau movement, African art, and the drama of Greek art from the Hellenistic period. Currently I've been quite inspired by the work of some contemporary artists, especially that of the new pop surrealists also known as lowbrow artists."

How does he feel about his Honorable Mention from the New Times? "I have been doing the art thing for eight years, it's been a great ride in which I've met the most interesting people and had a chance to contribute to a lot of great events, exhibitions, and venues. It's always great to get a nod for something you love to do."

Tigris

Cultist: In first grade, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I actually wanted to be an architect for a long time until I got to high school and my drafting teacher had an architect come talk to us. He told us the most depressing story about how there was so much competition in the market, how he hadn't had a job in months, and how work in general was slow... at the end of his talk I changed my mind and also wanted to give him $5 cause it sounded like he really needed it (laughs).

If you could live in any one time period, in any country, which would it be? France during the time that Art Nouveau was big and Mucha was there doing much of his work. The style is so ornate and had a very strong design quality to it. It would be exciting to see it firsthand at a time when it still was very new.

Many a Kiss

Three favorite artists?

Easily: Alphonse Mucha, Kris Lewis, and Shawn Barber.

Favorite season in Miami?

Winter... it's great weather and the busy part of art season.

The Rain

If you could live with any artist, living or dead, for one year, who would it be? Kehinde Wiley. I'd love to see his process for making art, from concept to sketches, to photographing, and finally painting his works. I feel I can gain a great deal of technical knowledge from him.
